Tampere University of Applied Sciences and JAMK University of Applied Sciences have organised international weeks for language teachers in higher education together biannually since 2013 with the name “Language Teaching Tomorrow”. Heads of TAMK and JAMK Language Centres, Tarja Haukijärvi and Pirkko Pollari, presented this form of collaboration at EAIE conference in Liverpool in September, and it sparked a lot of interest. Through organising the weeks, the language centres of the two universities have succeeded in promoting collaboration between and among their own language teachers as well as language teachers coming from the partner universities. Presentations, workshops, and round-table discussions have offered excellent forums for sharing expertise and networking. The next week will be organised in May 2017 with the theme “Promoting Flexibility and Autonomy in Language Learning”.
